A* Took the target out of the fridge and let it sit for an hour before using it. DEFINITELY easier to find than straight out of the fridge. No trouble, no false positives, no checking back.
B* Added 5 similar gauzes without scent. Made zero difference to Syn’s ability to find the target.
C* Yowf, too hungry for supper (she’s been bugging me for over an hour), and fresh from the fridge, she had NO clue and was throwing alerts all over the place. I reset and held her for a moment after each mistake but she just couldn’t do it. We took a 5-minute break.
D* After 5 minutes and a handful of food to settle her nerves, she was perfect. It wasn’t easy, she missed the can a couple of times and had to go around twice. Once she got tired of trying and started to lie down, startled, and kept going. The funny part is that if she’s going around at some speed and she catches a faint whiff as she goes by, she can’t usually bring herself to double back but goes around the circle again, carefully sniffing each can until she comes back to the right one.
E* I added the human SS from the other day so there were 2 SS on the wheel. She had no trouble with this at all. She hit the human scent 6 times and the K9 4, but that’s what she came to first. The first time she smelled the human scent, there was a distinct double take before the alert - wo! What’s THAT doing here?
